A short emotional story about love, loss, and the beauty of letting go. “At the Beginning of the Ending” is a heartfelt anecdote that captures the quiet pain of two souls saying goodbye one conversation at a time.
There are some conversations that don’t just end;
they stay echoing inside you long after the words have stopped.
Ours was one of those.
At the beginning of the ending, we had the saddest conversation of all.
Xappa said:
“If I do find somebody else,
the difference will be that I already knew you.
You will be my frame of reference to love somebody else.
And I will compare them to you - and they will fail.
And I will miss you for the rest of my life.”
Even while saying it, I could see their eyes glisten
that kind of silence that screams without making a sound.
We both were crying inside, pretending to hold ourselves together.
And then I wrote…
Agar talaash karoon, koi mil hi jaayega,
If I search, I’ll surely find someone someday,
Magar tumhari tarah kaun mujhko chahega...
But who will love me the way you did…
Tumhe zaroor koi chahton se dekhega,
Someone will surely look at you with love,
Magar wo aankhein, humari kahan se laayega...
But where will they find the eyes — that once looked at you like mine did...
Love doesn’t always end with anger or distance.
Sometimes, it just fades with the quiet acceptance
that maybe, this was all we were meant to be for each other
a tender reminder that love can exist even in separation.
And maybe that’s what healing really is
not forgetting the person,
but learning to live with the echo of what once was,
without breaking every time you hear it.
